LEARNING & EXPLORING

RiverSmart Household Program

River Smart LogoThe RiverSmart Household Program is brought to you by the Eightmile River Wild & Scenic Coordinating Committee and supported by RiverNetwork. Its a simple and effective tool for your home.

There are three simple steps:

  1. Read the Eight Great Backyard Tips (all residents of East Haddam, Lyme and Salem received a copy in the mail);
  2. Take the quick and easy pledge linked below and get your free sign in the mail, and then;
  3. Follow through with the easy recommendations around your house and yard. You will make a difference in the water and wildlife quality in our watershed.

Take the RiverSmart Pledge now! It only take a few minutes, and your designation as a RiverSmart Household will be an important step in protecting the pristine streams and rivers in your backyard. Plus, you will receive this nice little sign for your mailbox, front stoop, or refrigerator (actual size is ~6"x4").

Thanks for participating.

Pledge counter: 13 as of 12/5/08

The Eightmile Committee would like to thank RiverNetwork for providing us with the RiverSmart toolkit that was adapted for use in the Eightmile River Watershed. We also thank Janis Bobrin, Drain Commissioner for Washtenaw County, MI, for providing us with example pledge surveys and materials. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
